DMT Documentary

Two potential sources of additional financial support have appeared recently, which will accelerate the pace of production. Mitch Schultz has condensed over 80 hours of interview footage to 4 hours, a major feat. Completing the film now will require script and narration, computer graphics, and last minute interviews. We hope for a draft of the film polished enough for Spring submissions to independent film festival competitions.

Cottonwood Library – Volunteers Needed

Both our general site, and that of the Foundation’s digital library have moved from a Taos server to a generous volunteer’s server in Southern California. Digitizing the library is time-consuming, requiring some manual data entry. If you are interested in volunteering for some really tedious but important work, please let me know.

LSU Hallucinogenic Tryptamine Assay

Work continues at an impressive pace in Steve Barker’s lab, where Ethan McIlhenny has recently submitted a manuscript describing the developing of the assay, and some data regarding concentrations of up to 11 relevant compounds in samples of ayahuasca. We are working on obtaining samples of human blood and urine so as to assess the assay’s ability to find and quantify these compounds in these tissues.

Donations and Public Non-Profit Status

Cottonwood has not yet reached the point at which we will pass the test for public non-profit status, which comes up in another 3 years. Non-profits have 5 years in which to show they are publically supported, rather than supported by a small handful of donors. There are advantages to maintaining public status, which we will only do if more donors contribute more low- and medium-level donations.
